GO BEYOND PROJECT

The Go Beyond Project was created in 2020 by eighth grade friends Ava Gersten, Lila Greenwald and Penelope Tarr. Motivated by the desire to improve the well-being of their peers, they created an initiative focused on everyday acts of kindness. They recognized that simple acts have a significant impact on mental health, and they wanted to create a community of teens who would spread those values .

The Go Beyond Project started with a social media campaign that encouraged teens to practice acts of kindness towards others such as sending a kind text to a friend. They have since organized events, and created a line of ‘Go Beyond’ sweatshirts with proceeds going to the Youth Mental Health Project .

Go Beyond project has demonstrated that small acts of kindness can have a big impact on mental health, and showed that teens have the power to make a difference in the lives of other teens.

TEENS
HELPING
TEENS

When teens help each other out, it creates a sense of authentic community, understanding and belonging. It is an opportunity for teens to come together and support one another with no adult facilitation or guidance.

When teens are on the receiving end of acts of kindness, from fellow teens, it can help to boost their self-esteem and sense of worth. Likewise, being able to help someone else out can make teens feel proud and give them a sense of purpose. These mutual benefits can help to improve both parties’ mental and emotional wellbeing, as they are contributing together to something bigger than themselves.

JOIN!

We are teens helping teens. Joining us is simple – we ask you smile more than you frown and you think twice before saying something unkind (about yourself or others). All simple stuff!

As teens, we should all be looking for ways to get involved in our communities. Doing small acts of kindness doesn’t have to be a chore or a burden, it can be as simple as smiling and saying hello. Taking positive action, no matter how small, can have a huge impact. Oh, and it’s free!

When you take the initiative to do something kind for someone else, you not only show them that you care, but you also make yourself feel better. Try it and see!
