My favorite gratitude practice
My Favorite Gratitude Practice instructions:
Journaling: Manifestation and gratitude writing are two of my favorite methods to cultivate gratitude. For example, I begin by creating a list of 10 things for which I am grateful, followed by a list of 10 "hopes" or "wishes" for myself. I believe that writing facts is more effective than writing "i hope" or "i want". For instance, my most recent journal looked something like this:
I am grateful for…
The health, love, happiness, and safety of my family and friends.
Having a safe home
A loving family
The education I am receiving
My recent vacation were I got to spend time with my family
My access to resources in order to further my education
The city I live in and the things it has offered me over the years.
The doctors that have helped me to diagnose my autoimmune disease
Having basic necessities like food and water.
The opportunity to learn a new language.
Next, I'll write my manifestations for the coming month. I know many of the items on my appreciation list are quite broad, but for my manifestation list, I strive to be quite specific.
Manifestation List:
I will work really hard to finish this semester with good grades.
I will take a positive approach to the new upcoming semester and make sure to not be afraid to ask help from my teachers
I will prioritize my family and make sure they know how much I love and appreciate them.
I will prioritize making time to read more often because it is something I really enjoy and do not get to often enough.
I will study really hard for my ACT.
I will get through these next few really cold months because, for me personally, they happen to be really discouraging and depressing times.
I will continue this practice because it helps me sort through my thoughts.
I will continue the physical activity that I enjoy doing rather than practices I do not.
I will give myself a break when I need one.
I will help my mom when she asks me to.
I understand that this can be time-consuming, but it is a terrific method to organize your thoughts and remind yourself how fortunate you are. The manifestation piece is also an excellent approach to set goals for yourself. When I'm feeling discouraged, depressed, or frustrated with life or myself, I like to refer back to this list that I spent time creating. If this is too much, a list of 3-5 items can suffice. Happy writing!
